Life Clubs Launch Into The Corporate World PDF Print E-mail

Founded in 2004, Life Clubs was modeled on WeightWatchers, only focusing on the mind. Directed towards wellbeing and happiness, the groups quickly took off and thousands of people the length and breadth of the country have registered

Six years on, founder Nina Grunfeld – a noted life coach and bestselling author – has launched the concept into the corporate world. An initial pilot of workplace Life Clubs with organizations as diverse as the NHS, drinks giant Diageo and RBS, has proven successful and Grunfeld anticipates this move will double the company’s turnover in the course of the next 12 months.

Rocketing levels of workplace malaise – with 65% of workers claiming they have work-related stress – have naturally been exacerbated by the recession and the difficulties it has  created. This has obviously had an impact on productivity and employee retention – making this a ‘bottom line’ issue. Workplace Life Clubs are designed to neutralise the negative effects of the economic climate. The regular fun group development programmes bring teams together and consequently improve the working atmosphere.

With a background as a former Daily Telegraph columnist; Grunfeld is well-known for creating TV series ‘Nanny Knows Best’ (the fore-runner of Supernanny). She is also the bestselling author of several other books in addition to the newly released The Life Book (Pearson Education, 2010). Life Clubs has also expanded outside of the UK with the first clubs and corporates launched in Canada.

Nina Grunfeld, founder and CEO of Life Clubs says: “A move into the corporate sector was a natural progression for Life Clubs. In the six years we have been running the groups, we have observed that workplace issues have dominated our members’ concerns – to an even greater extent than relationships or body image.

This is completely natural considering how much of our lives we spend at work. Feedback from our pilot sessions has been very positive which has led us to launch Life Clubs formally into the business world – I am hoping 2010 will be a very exciting year as a consequence.”
