Children's Exam Results Don't Necessarily Mirror That Of Parents PDF Print E-mail

The BBC has released details from an educational investigation held by the Sutton Trust which say that “children's exam results in England are more strongly linked to their parents' education than in many other countries.”

The report suggests that if a parent went to University, then their child will be more successful in school than children of those adults who left school and went straight into employment aged 16-18.
This puts a serious amount of pressure on families who are less wealthy. Equally, it suggests that as a parent, if you did not get straight A’s then your child will never be “top of the class”. It seems rather old fashioned to suggest that this should be the case.

RELAX KIDS has created relaxation resources to be used in school or at home, that help children recognise their individuality and be confident in who they are. It dispels any preconceptions about cultural backgrounds and bridges the gaps between social groupings. The resources work particularly well in schools as they are then used in a neutral environment that does not rely on family circumstances.

The more relaxed our children are, the better they will do at school and in turn, adult life. By relaxing, children are given the opportunity to actively manage their emotional journey through different things that they encounter which is an invaluable tool for adult life when we become more aware of social boundaries and expectations set on us by society.
